Do you remember me mentioning my garden last week? Below is a pic so you can see. My hubby snuck a photo from our upstairs window yesterday. Since we expanded it, there was quite a workout involved. I've torched an extra 400 calories lifting and carrying bags of soil and compost, laying down weed fabric, transplanting plants, raking, busting dirt clods, and more. Oh, did I mention "Snake Wrestling" with the hose and sprinkler? My hubby got quite a workout behind the rototiller. Some people think all you do is walk behind it. No. It's like holding back a team of wild ponies trying to run away! It also took several sweeps to get the soil under the boxes and weed fabric workable. I still have to shovel gravel into the wheelbarrow to put in the walkways. More calories to torch!
Our soil is clay, nasty, hard clay. I put raised bed soil into the boxes. The weed fabric keeps most of the weeds at bay. We grow organically to avoid problems caused by herbicides and pesticides. Are you growing any of your own fruits and veggies? We would love to hear and see, if you have pics, of your garden-- whether in pots, windowsills, or regular garden space. What are you growing this year? Do you grow conventional, organic, non-gmo? Feel free to comment below.
