We are on vacation in sunny, warm Florida right now. It was past time for some rest and relaxation for us. We've both been working hard and long over the few months without much of a break. Winters where we live are long, dreary, and mostly cold! When we did have a warm snap, it was overcast and foggy. UGH! No wonder most people who live there are low on vitamin D. I'm one of those people. By the way, did you know that low vitamin D can cause a host of illnesses and diseases? At any rate, I am solar-powered! I immediately perk up in the sunlight. Yes, I wear sunscreen like I should. The 70s set a lot of us up for skin cancer. So far, so good for me. But not for some people in our generation. Have you had your vitamin and mineral levels checked by your doctor? Have you had your skin examined recently? Worshipping the sun can be deadly, while not getting enough natural sunlight can cause low vitamin D health problems.
At any rate, there seemed to be a bird theme to our day. We walked along Pine Island and saw a bunch of birds huddled together in 77 degree Fahrenheit sunlit bliss on this pier (see pic above). We saw a huge bird nest in the top of a dead tree. Another couple of birds decided to beg at Chipotles (see right). This one had his eye on my chicken burrito bowl! No feathers or bird evidence on our table. We enjoyed seeing hubby's sister and her husband while they were here at the same time. Of course, we had to stop at an airport while we were here! My aviator guy wanted to check it out in case we flew in sometime (see below). So far, it's been a good start to our time here.
Am I torturing you? Not intentionally. What I am sharing with you through our vacation is the importance of taking a break from hard work every once in a while and getting your health screenings. Too many people are making their way to an early grave as they leave behind loved ones. Others are suffering from serious health issues resulting from lack of health checks and rest breaks. When you take care of your own needs, you are better able to take care of the needs of those around you.
