I wonder how much money is spent in postage mailing out Valentines cards every year. It probably isn't as much as Christmas cards, though. Handwritten thoughtful sentiments are special because someone went out of their way to send it. I sent cards with sheets of stickers to my grand kids. I tried to be kind to my adult kids and their spouses by only sending one sheet each because stickers end up in unwanted places! The rest I sent e-cards because they don't add to piles of mail in their homes. How about you? How did you send greetings to loved ones a distance away? This month has been dedicated to different themes on love.
I hope something you read met a need or gave you an "Ah-Huh!" moment. How are your goals going, by the way? It seems Mardi Gras comes about the time a new exercise routine or weight loss plan begins to feel like work. If you're like most people, it fell by the wayside and you are trying to begin again. Fitness Tip: Train in Your Sweet Spot
Use your heart rate to meet your weight loss goals. By working in the 65-85% range with your cardio, a healthy adult working for 30-60 minutes can kick up their calorie burrn. If you are an older adult or have high blood pressure or other health concerns, provided the doctor has cleared you for exercise, working in the 55-65% of your maximum heart rate for 3-60 minutes will help. Here is how to find out: Subtract your age from 220 to get your maximum heart rate. Multiply that number by .65 and again by .85. These numbers are your heart rate range. Have a happy heart!
Food/Health Tip: Ginger
Ginger is a root used for seasoning foods, easing an upset stomach, reducing inflammation, and sometimes for burns. It can be ground fresh, found in a powder form in the spice aisle, as candied pieces, and as an oil. If you have ever had ginger ale, you would quickly recognize the flavor. It tastes great in many foods as well as teas.
