I'm sitting here while the rain is pouring down outside. The reality of leaves falling and rain coming soon makes me feel a bit chilly. I love fall, yet hate it at the same time. It's cooler to work out in the daytime. But it's sad that winter with it's nasty chill will be here sooner than we want. That is, unless you love winter outdoor activities. As you work outside and workout outside, keep in mind what you do in a day! If you are lifting or holding a reasonable amount of weight overhead, lighten up on over-the-head exercises. If you are climbing and stooping, you've done the equivalent in squats and lunges. Count the calorie burn of raking leaves, clearing brush, and painting trim on the house. They count! I was reminded of that very thing the other day helping my hubby nail up boards overhead as well as climbing ladders . Working out was a bit ouchy! The last thing you want is an injury to sideline you!

Healthy Junk Food?!?!
Just because it's at a health food store, doesn't make it healthy. When I was shopping Whole Foods last week, there was a flyer showing organic, non-gmo sandwich cookies! Hmmm. There are crowds down the chip, soda, candy, and fast-fix food aisles! Also, eating gluten-free snack foods won't help you lose weight, either. It will actually cause you to gain weight because the carbs are less complex due to the grains used. So, read the labels. Organic is good. Non-gmo, not a problem. You won't poison yourself with chemicals. However, lots of fats, sugars, and salt-- definite problem! It's okay to have a treat, but be wise and read the nutrition facts on the label."Healthy" might not be as healthy as you think. image: Amazon.com
Have foot pain? Plantar Fasciitis might be to blame. That flat band of tissue supporting your arch, connects from the ball of the foot to the heel. It can get sore or irritated, especially if you are a runner, do a lot of ballistic movement, or stand a lot. Wear good supportive shoes and stretch your foot by pulling your toes back with feet flat on floor. If you have foot pain, get it checked out. You could have other issues or need medical attention for this condition, depending on the exact problem. Please, do not use anything stated here as a substitute for proper medical care. Have a great holiday weekend! Blessings to you!
